EMIS Access on line
In cooperation with EMIS, our clinical systems supplier, patients with
internet access can now book or cancel appointments
on-line, order a repeat prescription, change address or telephone number, and send simple (non clinical) messages or queries to the
Practice. You can also book and cancel appointments from your digital television using your existing Access ID and password.
This service, similar to online banking, is a first in
the UK and provides a convenient way to communicate
with us, and also give the reception staff more time to deal with
other enquiries.
HOW THE SERVICE WORKS
At busy times it can be difficult to contact the Practice by telephone, and out of hours there is no one to answer the phone for routine enquiries. Using the internet you can view a range of available appointments and book the best one to suit you; keep your personal
details up to date with the address change facility; send short, non urgent messages to the practice and receive a reply from the reception staff, and order a repeat prescription.

GETTING STARTED
You must first register with the Practice to use
the EMIS Access feature. Ask the receptionist for a
registration form, access the web site via the EMIS Access button (to the right), and
enter the registration details shown on your form. Please note - for reasons of confidentiality
each person must register personally. It is not possible to collect
registration forms for other family members (other than children)
unless their permission in writing is provided.
After registration you can log on with your
patient number and a password of your own choosing. Make a careful
note of your chosen password as it will be needed each time you
log on to the EMIS Access site. Please do not disclose your
password to anyone else.
You will now be able to view any appointments
you already have booked, cancel them if needed, and make new
appointments with your doctor after checking the available times.
You can change your address and telephone
details
You can also enter short, non-clinical queries, and
receive replies from the reception staff.
You can order a repeat prescription and collect it from the surgery two days later.
HOW TO REGISTER
Ask at reception for a registration form, which
provides the information you need to register to use the EMIS ACCESS
internet facility.
Access the Practice website at
www.priorslegh.co.uk, select the 'EMIS Access' button
and link to the EMIS website to set up your account.
Enter you personal details in exactly the
same format as on the registration form. If the information doesn't
match, your registration will not be accepted. Please make a note of
your chosen password, as you will need it each time you log on.
When you book an appointment online, you will
receive confirmation immediately. There is no need to telephone the
Practice to confirm, just arrive promptly on the day!
Messages are handled by the reception staff during
normal working hours, so there will be a delay before you receive a
reply. If you have an URGENT or a CLINICAL enquiry do not use the online messaging
facility, but telephone the Practice in the usual way on 01625 872
299. Repeat prescriptions will be processed in the normal way, and will be ready for collection in 2 working days of receipt.
SECURITY
We take the security of our patients'
information very seriously. By working with EMIS, the company that
provides the clinical computer systems for this practice (and for more
than 50% of all GP practices in the UK), we can ensure that the
information you provide when using the internet is protected.
All communications with the EMIS Access web
site are encrypted, using the same high security that major banks use
for their internet transactions (128 bit SSL). Only you can see the
personal information you enter. The web site is administered at a
remote high security site and there is no possibility of unauthorised
access.
Using the most up-to-date version of your web
browser also improves security of information. Remember to close the
browser after use, especially if you share your computer with someone
else.
