Dr William Helliwell Male MB ChB (1969 Manchester) Dr William Helliwell qualified from the University of Manchester
in 1969. Following several years in hospital posts, he joined
Priorslegh in October 1973. Dr Helliwell is our Senior Partner and
has a special interest in minor surgery. His interests outside the
Practice include classical music and opera, mountaineering and
natural history. |

Dr Clare H Stanley Female MB ChB (1983 Manchester) MRCGP DRCOG
Dr Clare Stanley trained at Manchester University gaining her
medical degree in 1983. She worked as a junior doctor at Hope
Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary, followed by three years
general practice training in Bolton before joining Priorslegh
Medical Centre in 1987. Her main interests are obstetrics,
gynaecology, family planning and paediatrics, and she is a member
of the Macclesfield Maternity Liaison Committee. Outside work Dr
Stanley's interests include walking, gardening and cooking. |

Dr Sylvia
Glass Female PhD MB BChir (1981 Cambridge) FRCGP
Dr Sylvia Glass joined Priorslegh Medical Centre in 1990, and
holds surgeries four days per week. She did her medical training
at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge when it first became a
teaching hospital. Prior to this she had a background in
biochemistry and molecular biology, and gained a PhD in virology
research. Dr Glass is the Practice GP Registrar trainer. She is involved in medical politics representing the
locality at the South Cheshire Local Medical Committee, which is a representative body
of the BMA. Dr Glass also acts as clinical adviser to the doctors employed in
the Nursing Homes Scheme, which she was instrumental in setting up
in 1998. Dr Glass gained her Fellowship of the Royal College of
General Practitioners in April 2005. Her interests include travel, reading, walking, skiing
and fine wines. |

Dr Janet Ayres Female MB ChB (1979 Leeds) Dr Janet Ayres qualified from Leeds University in 1979. She worked
as a junior doctor at Stepping Hill Hospital and Stockport
Infirmary before undertaking GP training at Cheadle. She joined
Priorslegh Medical Centre in 1991 and works four days per week. Dr
Ayres is married with two daughters, and is an active member of
Poynton Baptist Church. Her other interests include walking and
reading. |

Manchester) DRCOG
DFFP MRCGP Dr John Burnett gained his medical degrees in St Andrews, Scotland, and
Manchester, following which
he completed a training scheme in
general practice in Carlisle, Cumbria. He joined Priorslegh
Medical
Centre in 1999, and has interests in joint and soft tissue
medicine, asthma and chronic respiratory
diseases, and men's health. |

Dr David Ward MBCh (1998 Liverpool) MRCP MRCGP Dr David Ward graduated in 1998 from Liverpool Medical School. He worked for a number of years in Liverpool before moving to Macclesfield to undertake his General Practice training. He completed his GP training at Priorslegh before joining the Practice as a partner in September 2007. His medical interests include medical education and chronic disease management. Outside interests include travel and golf. |

Dr Naila Raja MBChB (2002 Sheffield) MRCGP (distinction) DFFP Dr Naila Raja qualified from Sheffield University in 2002, following which she returned to her home city of Manchester to join the Stockport GP training scheme. After gaining a distinction in her MRCGP examinations she joined Priorslegh Medical Centre as a GP Partner in September 2007. Dr Raja has specialist interests in obstetrics, gynaecology, family planning, paediatrics & skin disorders, and is currently undertaking the Cardiff University Diploma in Dermatology. She is married to a Consultant Psychiatrist and they have one son. |
