GP Registrars
Priorslegh is a training practice for GP Registrars.
Registrars are fully qualified doctors whose experience has been mainly in
hospitals, and who wish to pursue their careers into general
practice. They are attached to the Practice for periods of twelve to eighteen
months, holding patient consultation sessions with support from the
Practice Partners when needed.
As part of their training programme, registrars may video record some
of their consultations. The receptionists will tell you if a
video recording session is in progress, and will ask for your consent to
take part. We are most grateful for your co-operation in this valuable
work. However, if you are not comfortable with this, please tell the
receptionist - you will not be asked to give a reason, and your
decision will not affect the quality of your care.
Locums
From time to time, when doctors are absent, we may
employ a locum doctor to cover their surgeries. We try to use the same
locums, so they become familiar with our practice procedures and our
patients. Locums are fully qualified and experienced doctors, who
provide a valuable service to general practice.
Medical Students
The Practice has been appointed as a University Teaching Practice
by the University of Manchester Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry,
Nursing and Pharmacy. This involves 3rd year medical students
spending a short period of time in the Practice observing and
learning about general practice based medicine. They may
sit-in surgery with a GP or Practice Nurse during a consultation
session. You will always be told by reception if a medical student
is sitting in surgery, and you will be asked to give your consent
to their being present during your consultation.
We are most grateful for your cooperation in
helping with the training of our 'doctors of the future'. However
if you are not comfortable with a third party being present,
please tell the receptionist - you will not be asked to give a
reason, and your decision will not affect the quality of your
care.
