Acute Prescriptions
If
you need
medication to help with your recovery from an illness or other
condition,
the
doctor will issue a prescription, which can be dispensed
at
any pharmacy. Unless you are exempt the pharmacist will charge for
each item dispensed.
Some items are available as over-the-counter drugs, and prescriptions
will not normally be issued for these.
Repeat Prescriptions
If
you need to take medication regularly,
the
doctor may arrange for a repeat prescription
to be issued, for up to a maximum of two months supply of medication.
You will
be invited to see a
doctor or nurse at least annually to review your medication,
and further repeat prescriptions will not be issued until the review
has been carried out.
There are several ways in which you
can
request further supplies of repeat medications;
please tick the
appropriate box(es) on the right-hand side of your prescription form
and:
-
Take
it or send it to the surgery allowing 2 full working days for the
processing of your prescription.
-
We will be happy to return your prescription to you by post if you
enclose a stamped, addressed envelope. Please remember to leave extra
time for posting in addition to the two days processing time.
-
It may be possible to make an
arrangement with your local pharmacy to pick-up and dispense your
prescription without your visiting the surgery. Please enquire with
your pharmacy about this service.
